- National Championship BYU won the national championship in football with a perfect 13-0 record under LaVell Edwards.
1990
- Heisman Winner Ty Detmer won the Heisman Trophy, the only BYU player to receive the honor.
2021
- Big 12 Invitation BYU was invited to join the Big 12 Conference, ending independent status.
2023
- Big 12 Membership BYU officially became a member of the Big 12 Conference.
